Anxiety and Depression

Anxiety and depression can seem like two sides of the same coin. Both can make you feel incapable of dealing with your life and hopeless that you will be able to reclaim it. It is this incapacitating nature that can shrink your world and leave you overwhelmed. To make matters more confusing it is common to experience anxious-depression—both anxiety and depression simultaneously.

If anxiety or depression is interfering with your life, then you may need some help. Please contact me for assistance.

Anger Management:
Individual and Group programs

If you are easily frustrated, quick to anger, or your anger tends to cause difficulties in your relationships or at work then this program can help you manage your anger. My anger management programs combine CBT and psychodynamic methods that help you first get your anger in control and then help you understand the source of your anger.

You will learn to maintain control of your anger by developing skills that help you increase your awareness of your angry feelings, identify your anger triggers, replace angry behaviors with more adaptive behaviors and improve your communications skills so you don't need to be angry to get what you need.

Life Changes and Transition Issues

Often the magnitude and pace of change in our lives can be overwhelming. Perhaps you are going away to college, getting married or divorced, having a child, retiring, moving, or faced with your own or a loved ones health issues. Having a safe, calm place with someone who understands what is happening can help you work through these uncertain and sometimes turbulent periods in your life.

One way to help you process life issues is to gain support from others who are having similar issues. Contact me to find out if one of these groups is right for you.

Trauma and Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Trauma can result from a significant event or from the accumulation of smaller events. If you have been a victim of violence or emotional abuse, witnessed a violent act, or lived under the threat of violence chances are you will be able to heal yourself given time.

However, some people are unable to heal themselves. If you repeatedly re-experience the traumatic event, are hypersensitive to or avoid situations that might induce feelings similar to the event, find your fear and anxiety are creating difficulties in your daily life and relationships—then you may have PTSD and will need help to work through the trauma.

I have specialized training and experience providing treatment to individuals experiencing PTSD. I work with individuals in the California Victims of Violent Crimes Program and I am one of the few Army Onesource providers in the Los Angeles area. A significant portion of my practice is providing private and confidential treatment to members of our military, veterans, law enforcement, emergency personnel, and individuals working in high-risk professions.
